FAQs
What is a massage appointment like?
Each appointment starts with a pre-screening. If this is your first appointment a review of your intake form and health history. After we talk about your goals for the session and discuss how the massage will go. Clients may undress to their comfort level, but will ALWAYS stay properly covered by sheets during the session. Each massage is a custom blend of techniques according to your goals and needs. This could include Swedish, deep tissue, facilitated stretching and more.
Anyone under the age of 18 must have a legal guardian present to provide consent for massage therapy services.
What payment methods do you accept?
We're dedicated to making your checkout experience as smooth as possible! We happily accept all major credit cards, debit cards, Apple Pay, and cash. If you're able to, cash is always a wonderful way to show appreciation for your provider. We no longer accept checks.
How do I tip my provider?
Cash tips are always appreciated but not expected. We can add tips to your services via credit card payment or through Venmo. When you tip on a card rest assured your provider will receive 100% of their tip.
I put my card on file. Does that mean I've been charged for my service?
No, we only hold your card to ensure that we can enforce our cancellation policy, which is outlined on this page as well. We will only charge you for the service after it has been rendered or to collect the cancellation fee. Please be sure to review the cancellation policy before booking an appointment. You will also have the option to use an alternative payment method at checkout if you choose.
What is your cancellation policy?
We kindly ask that clients confirm their appointment 48 hours before it is scheduled. If you have to reschedule or cancel less than 24 hours in advance, we do charge a $50 cancellation fee. This is to compensate our providers for time that they are unable to recover due to last minute changes in their schedule. We understand that emergencies and scheduling conflicts can arise, and we do request that clients notify us as soon as possible to avoid being charged. Failure to show up for a confirmed appointment with no call will be charged the total cost of their appointment.
How early should I arrive?
We kindly ask that you arrive no earlier than 15 min before your scheduled appointment. Our booking system will send you a message to let you check in virtually at that time. We will message you when we are ready for you to head inside. For our safety we lock the doors when all providers are busy, so the virtual check in ensures they will be unlocked for you.
How do I book a Head Spa?
We no longer offer head spa services as our provider Megan has moved to Big Deale Business Park starting June 9th. For her info including booking and pricing please click here.
Can I use my Mindful Moon gift card for a Head Spa at Blissful Roots?
Yes, any card purchased before June 2025 will be valid for Blissful Roots. To redeem, please bring in a copy of your gift card or the plastic card depending on which you were given. We need the number on the back to check you out at the end of your appointment.
Do you sell gift cards?
We currently don’t sell gift cards due to the large amount we have outstanding at this time. To compensate if you would like to gift someone a service you are more than welcome to pay for their service at checkout with your card, cash, or via invoice online.
If you have an outstanding gift card that was bought within a 4 year window it is still valid and you can use the outstanding balance toward any of our services.
Can I book for someone else?
Yes, please be sure to select that option when booking in Mangomint so we know who to expect when they come in. The actual client listed for the appointment will be required to fill out their own health history form. Please be sure to read our booking policies as well to be sure you consent to the terms provided.
This is another great way to pay for someone else's service as you can put your card on file and leave us a note to charge you and not the recipient at checkout.
Is massage suitable for everyone?
Those who have certain health concerns may want to avoid massage therapy. This could include a fever, cold, flu, TB, or any other infectious disease, broken bones, recent surgeries, uncontrolled hypertension and liver or kidney diseases that affect organ function. It is ALWAYS best to consult your physician to confirm massage is right for you if you have any doubts and especially if you are on multiple medications. If we see any issues on your intake form we will call to discuss it with you before your appointment to be sure massage is a safe therapy for you.
How often can I get massage?
Depending on your health goals and concerns, the time between appointments may vary. Trigger points and persistent "knots" can usually be worked on a schedule of every two weeks then gradually decreased as issues improve. Generally, once a month is recommended to maximize the benefits of massage.
What is Sound Healing?
To summarize, sound healing is the use of specific and targeted sound frequencies to elicit a sense of calm and facilitate healing on a physical and mental level. For information on one case study to support this claim, you can click the following link: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC5871151/
I like to think of sound healing as a facilitated meditation using the sounds and pitches of various instruments to create relaxing sound patterns. By creating this point of focus, the client can relax in a deeper meditative state.
What is Reiki?
Reiki is a Japanese energy healing practice developed by Mikao Usui in 1922. It involves channeling universal life force energy (“ki”) through the practitioner’s hands to support physical and emotional healing. Although non-religious, Reiki is spiritually rooted and has gained popularity in integrative health care, including use in hospitals and hospices (Miles & True, 2003). Its growth reflects a broader acceptance of complementary therapies in modern medicine (Thrane & Cohen, 2014).
Scientific research on Reiki shows promising, though mixed, results. Some studies report benefits such as reduced pain, anxiety, and stress. A systematic review by Lee et al. (2008) found moderate effects in these areas, while a controlled study by Baldwin et al. (2017) linked Reiki to lower heart rate and blood pressure, suggesting potential cardiovascular benefits. Though more rigorous studies are needed, current evidence supports Reiki as a safe and potentially effective adjunct to conventional care.
